AI-Generated Code Now Dominates Development Workflows at Google
At its Cloud Next ’26 event, Sundar Pichai highlighted Google Cloud’s rapid momentum, driven by surging demand for AI infrastructure and services. The company’s models are now processing over 16 billion tokens per minute, reflecting explosive growth in enterprise AI adoption and signaling a major shift toward large-scale, production-ready AI systems.
A central theme of the announcement is the transition into what Google calls the “agentic era,” where AI agents act autonomously across workflows. With tools like Gemini Enterprise and the new Agent Platform, businesses are moving beyond experimentation to deploying and managing thousands of AI agents, effectively turning entire workforces into builders and orchestrators of AI-driven systems.
To support this transformation, Google unveiled its eighth-generation Tensor Processing Units (TPUs), designed to handle the intense demands of training and running AI at scale. These chips deliver major improvements in performance, efficiency, and latency, enabling organizations to run millions of AI agents simultaneously while keeping costs manageable.
