DoorDash Earns FAA Certification for Commercial Drone Delivery Operations

DoorDash has officially launched DoorDash Air after earning Federal Aviation Administration Part 135 Air Carrier certification, authorizing the company to operate its own commercial drone delivery service across the United States. DoorDash believes drone delivery is particularly valuable for mid-range orders that are often less attractive to human drivers because of longer travel times. By assigning these deliveries to autonomous aircraft, the company expects to improve customer delivery times while allowing Dashers to remain concentrated around dense merchant areas where they can complete more short-distance orders and maximize earnings.
