Gemini’s Momentum Mirrors Alphabet’s Record Financial Performance
Google’s Gemini app has crossed 750 million monthly active users, marking one of the fastest adoption curves for an AI chatbot to date and cementing Gemini as a major force in the consumer AI race. The figure, disclosed during Alphabet’s Q4 2025 earnings, reflects rapid momentum following the rollout of Gemini 3, Google’s most advanced model yet.
The growth, as noted in techcrunch.com, is striking when viewed quarter over quarter. Just three months earlier, Gemini reported 650 million MAUs, meaning the app added roughly 100 million users in a single quarter. That puts Gemini ahead of Meta AI’s reported ~500 million users, though it still trails ChatGPT, which was estimated to have about 810 million MAUs in late 2025.
Google executives credited Gemini 3’s improved depth, nuance, and performance as a key driver, alongside broader integration across Google’s ecosystem. CEO Sundar Pichai emphasized that AI-powered features are expanding usage across Search and developer APIs, noting that Google’s first-party models now process over 10 billion tokens per minute via direct customer access.
The milestone arrives amid a banner financial moment for Alphabet, which surpassed $400 billion in annual revenue for the first time. While Gemini’s new $7.99-per-month AI Plus plan is expected to further accelerate adoption, it launched too recently to impact current numbers. Still, the trajectory suggests Google is rapidly narrowing the gap with ChatGPT as the AI arms race shifts from capability alone to scale, distribution and sustained engagement.
