AI-Generated Videos Feature Multiple Styles, Including Anime and Video Game Graphic

Chinese AI startup MiniMax has launched its first AI model, Video-01, capable of generating high-resolution videos from text prompts. Unveiled by CEO Yan Junjie, Video-01 supports a resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixels at 25 frames per second and includes virtual camera control. Currently, videos are limited to six seconds, with plans to extend this to ten seconds soon. The videos generated by the model are noticeably AI-made, with slightly oversaturated and smooth visuals, supporting styles like anime, CGI, and video game graphics. Despite being AI-generated, Video-01 has few image errors and is even capable of displaying text in videos.

MiniMax has implemented usage restrictions to prevent the generation of illegal or inappropriate content, with warnings against spreading rumors or violating privacy. However, the tool can create videos of well-known figures, including political personalities like Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin. The model automatically blocks explicit content and includes a discreet watermark on the generated videos to ensure accountability and transparency in its use.

Founded in 2021, MiniMax has already attracted significant investments, raising $600 million in a recent funding round led by Alibaba and Tencent, bringing its valuation to over $2.5 billion.
