NBA Breaks More New Ground In VR
The NBA plans to join VR and live games in 2018, while other broadcasters and sports leagues dabble in virtual reality.
In 2017, the NBA raced ahead of its competitors by streaming live games every week. The break-out season for the NBA and VR will be 2018, as its entire season becomes immersive for League Pass subscribers. Not only will they be able to access 27 live games on Samsung Gear VR or Google Daydream headset, but they will also be able to choose from every League Pass game in virtual reality. Expect other leagues to jump in ASAP.
Additionally, viewers will be able to stream 13 NBA games on a massive virtual screen.
If you don’t want to fork out $200 on a League Pass subscription just to watch in VR, you can pay $7 for the game you wish to stream, courtesy of the NBA’s on-demand service. Schedule details for live VR games can be found on the league’s website.
