World ID Verification Goes Global with New Flagship Locations and Retail Partnerships
The latest generation of the Orb, powered by NVIDIA Jetson, introduces advanced AI performance and enhanced features such as upgraded cameras and 5G connectivity, improving verification processes for World ID users. These improvements make the Orb more adaptable, faster and better at performing human verification in various environments, with a streamlined design that uses fewer parts, making it cheaper and quicker to produce. The Orb prioritizes privacy by not storing images and offers transparency with a removable SD card for easy audits.
Alongside the new hardware, enhanced privacy and security software upgrades have been implemented across all Orb models, including features like Personal Custody and Face Auth, to ensure a secure World ID proof of human verification. These upgrades, as reported in world.org, allow for the expansion of verification services, making it easier for people to join the World network in more places worldwide. The redesigned verification flow in the World App and Orb ensures a denser distribution of Orbs, enabling faster and more accessible verifications.
New ways to verify include flagship locations in cities like Buenos Aires and Mexico City, On Demand Orbs through partnerships like with Rappi, and Self Serve Orbs available at select retail locations. Additionally, the Community Operator program allows individuals and businesses to acquire Orbs to facilitate community-led access to World ID verification, further decentralizing and expanding the network’s reach.
Finally, the World ID Credentials, such as the Verified Passport, offer limited access to the World network without an Orb, enabling those with specific government-issued IDs to participate in the network’s benefits. These innovations, alongside expanded access points, contribute to the scaling of the World network toward its goal of reaching one billion users.
